Sparrow, one of my favourite Spurgeon stories was when a disagreement broke out between him and his board. He wanted the windows up during the meeting and they felt they should stay down. Everyone arrived to the Sunday a.m. meeting to find all the windows had been smashed out during the night by some unknown vandal. They were very open but remained 'closed' as per the board's wishes.

One of my favourite Spurgeon sayings - when he was reproached by a parishioner for smoking.

Spurgeon: I'll quit cigars if it becomes excessive.
    Parishioner: What's excessive?
Spurgeon: Two cigars at a time.
